KL VISION 2011 is the 10th International Conference on Low-Vision will be held for the first time in Asia since its inception in 1984, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 20-24 February 2011.

The Conference will bring the convergence of professionals in various filed of ophthalmology, optometry and low vision research and rehabilitation in vision impairment such as physicists, psychologists, therapists, doctors and clinical health professionals amongst others.

 

Organized by International Society for Low Vision Research and Rehabilitation (ISLRR), in collaboration with the Malaysian Association of the Blind (MAB) and The Tun Hussein Onn National Eye Hospital (THONEH), the conference will offer a wide range of topics with the plenary sessions focusing on four main themes namely;

 

  1. 1. New Development in Research and Rehabilitation
  2. 2. Rehabilitation and new advances
  3. 3. Multi disciplinary Interventions and 4) Epidemiology in Developing Countries.

The 22nd Pacific Science Congress will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 14-18 June 2011. The Congress provides an interdisciplinary platform for scientists from the region to assess and prioritize issues requiring scientific research; brings together scientists from more remote states; and catalyzes international and cross-disciplinary collaboration and to announce and establish new research initiatives. The Pacific Science Association (PSA) focuses on those countries bordering the Pacific Ocean and the islands of the Pacific basin
The Congress expects to welcome around 1500 participants from research institutions, universities, governmental authorities, educationists, development agencies etc. The Congress will provide a platform to discuss the development and outcomes of academic research in the Pacific region especially with research that can contributes towards the challenges of global change, as well as fortifying mutual bonds. It is a unique opportunity to discuss a topic of common throughout the world. As the Congress is an international meeting where researchers and scientists spanning from a variety of fields will come together from all over the world, it will raise intellectual curiosity among students participating from this region, thus becoming a meaningful opportunity also for cultivating young researchers.
The theme of the Congress is “Asia Pacific Science in the 21st Century: Meeting the Challenges of Global Change”, and a variety of symposium and other sessions will be presented under the subthemes such as a changing climate, global change & ecosystems, oceans, earth system & risk management, globalization, resource constraints & sustainability, health challenges and science for policy and the future.

The 16th Asia Masters Athletics Championships will be held in Bukit Jalil Stadium, Malaysia from 6-12 December 2010. The main purpose of this event is to keep the master athletics, from 24 Asian countries which is affiliated with Asian Master Athletics (AMA), fit and healthy and a reunion of old friends.
The program is organized by The Malaysian Master Athletic Association with the cooperation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Various track and field events will be organized and a 10Km run at Dataran Medeka as the grand finale.
